Emergency Medical help in Antigua and Pana???

Planning soon to leave for Guatemala and as years creep up, we are more and more aware of the possibility that medical attention could be necessary ( just had a terrible few months!), but that will not stop us. Anyone with specific recommendations of doctors who speak English/ tel. numbers/ addresses in Antigua and Pana?? Personal stories/experiencces?

Medical and dental services in guatemala are excellent. I can tell you that from experience with doctors in guatemala city. The Revue magazine lists several english speaking doctors in antigua. So, when you get there try to pick up a copy at any good restaurant. You may also want to post your question on the lonely planet forum to get some feedback from ex-pats living in Antigua or around the lake. Good luck to you.

Elizabeth Bell is probably a good source of info like this. She's an expat who has been living there most of her life, is very well connected - and gives tours/books travel.

You may want to book her $20 tour so you're not just contacting her for info.

The US Embassy probably also keeps a list of recommended doctors. I know they used to have one of lawyers.
