Better Off Shore Fishing - Tamarindo or Roatan

A group of friends and I will be visiting Tamarindo and Roatan in late April and early May this year. I’m interested in doing some off shore fishing but cannot decide whether I’d be better off fishing Tamarindo or Roatan. It appears Tamarindo has better organized charters, but both places seem to have about the same caliber and species fish. I’m leaning toward Roatan because of the cost but would like some input from people who have actually travelled or fished these places. Obviously each location will have something different to offer, and fishing is called fishing, not catching. But I’d like to know which location has the most potential for landing more fish.

I'm pretty sure the pacific coast will offer the possibility of much larger specimens offshore than the southwest Caribbean. Snapper, black fin tuna, barracuda & the occasional mahi mahi has been my experience off shore of the Honduran bay islands. Roatan to me and even more it's neighbor guanaja is really more about bonefish and tarpon that off shore fishing.
