Belize to Tegucigalpa July 22

We are pretty seasoned travellers but have decided for the first time to join a tour which commences in Tegucigalpa on July 22 which goes through Nicuragua and Costa Rica (we are currently just holidaying in Belize.)

We initially wanted to bus/boat it to Honduras but in light of the current situation of unrest, are now thinking it may be safer just to fly directly from Belize City to Tegucigalpa. Unfortunately the only flight we can take arrives in Tegucigalpa at 9.30pm -will it be safe to get from the airport to our hotel in town at this time of night?

Or are we just plain nuts for trying to enter Honduras at all as we may be able to pick up the tour in Nicuragua but would obviously prefer not to miss part of the tour if poss.

despite what you may have seen in the media honduras is calm and orderly. there are occasional demonstrations in tegucigalpa and san pedro sula but they are well controlled and nothing for a traveller to worry about. have a good trip.
