In less than a month my future wife & I will be on our honeymoon on the Big Island! We're staying for 7 days at the Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort thanks to my MIL's timeshare points, so that's set in stone. The rest is quite fluid. Here is what we loosely plan to do:
Hang out in Kailua Kona Village
Drive around the perimeter of the island
Snorkel & Snuba aboard the Fair Wind II
Kilauea Volcano Adventure tour by Hawaii Forest & Trail
Luau: undecided (yeah I know they can be cheesy, but I think it would be fun)
Restaurants: undecided. We're both foodies and would love to hit up small local Kona treasures and at least one "splurge meal" at a high-end Hawaiian seafood restaurant.
We're not looking to map out every day's activity like we would on a trip to Disney (the primary goal is to relax), but if there are general things you'd recommend to first timers to the island I'd love to hear them. My mind will be locked in "wedding mode" for the next few weeks so it'll be hard to focus on this great adventure of ours. Also if there is anything you'd recommend that we pack in advance that people typically forget (and need) that would be useful too.
