On Shea's suggestion, I am moving myself over into this forum!
We now have our flights for the Big Island booked for ten days in march/April 2014. We are going as we (husband and I) are currently living in Vancouver, BC instead of London, UK and want to finish our time here on a trip we wouldn't normally be able to do. Due to the distance, Hawaii fits this bill. We are flying both in and out of Kona, nothing on east side of the island really appealed to us, and to be honest we have done a lot of day trips with huge drives and are kind of used to it. A flight back to vancouver from Hilo was proving to be hard to find.
Ok, to the point. We booked the Courtyard which is averaging about $279-309 for ten nights. I hear this is a little high. Perhaps as we booked via a UK website? I think, ideally we want to stay in a budget of under £2000 for ten nights for our accommodation (about $3150?). I think hubby would like at least a nice pool(s), I'm the beach bunny of the two of us. The thing that cinched it with courtyard was the lack of resort fee, low parking cost, and it had breakfast included. If we change accommodation, we'd like the option of being able to get reasonable food nearby for not too much. Though we do like to go for the odd expensive dinner. We quite like places with nice surrounding areas, places to walk through etc. I'm a shopaholic but I don't need shops on site, and both of us are also going to be malign the most of VNP and Mauna Kea.
If anyone has any thoughts, they would be greatly appreciated :)
