Love the idea. I am hoping to buy a pretty reusable bag as a souvenir with my first purchase. Do they sell ones that I would really like to keep?

You can get nice bags - even insulated ones - at Long's and ABC Stores. Hilo Hattie undoubtedly has some, and Walmart certainly does.

Yes, some of them are really nice with island themes. You can get them at the grocery stores too. I have an insulated bag with a zipper, keep it in the car..it definitely comes in handy. I do bring from home a couple of heavy plastic reusable bags for meat since they wash up easy.

I asked at the store last night, and there will no longer be the paper option if you forget your reusable. There will be nothing.

I think it may be fun on vacation, but I am not happy about it at all. I like to do a big shopping and that means needing a lot of bags, and having to watch my cart. Before I never had to watch my cart as it only had unpaid groceries in it. Or try going to the restroom with half a dozen reusable bags in tow. ;-) And then the hook is broken so they have to go on the floor.

Also, the checkers pack things all wrong now. They cram them into one bag. Then you find an avocado or tomato all smashed with heavy stuff if you donʻt watch them.

This is all I have to say. It's not Hawaii travel related, it global travel related. We've only got one world.

KK, you will get used to it :) It may take awhile, but you will.

Where I live within the city limits, plastic bag are still allowed, but 1/2 mile away in the unincorporated county, the bag ban has been in effect for a couple of years. I have bags in my car trunk, bags in the closet, even a 4 slot wine bag! I have tons of the blue Walmart bags too.

They banned plastic in LA Jan 1 and charge .10 for the paper. I got two free reusable bags early on but the store told me that promotion stopped last week so now I have to buy a few more.
