Best Garden for photography?

Hi :)

While in Kauai in early April I would love to visit a botanical garden. My husband and I do photography. I have noticed there are several on the island.

Do you have a preference? Are they vastly different from each other?

Allerton is probably the most popular.

Definitely Allerton Gardens. We are heading back to Kauai in 3 weeks and will definitely visit Allerton again. If you buy a $50 membership, you can also visit McBryde and Limahuli Gardens. An excellent deal.

Enjoy

Limahuli is beautiful, I'd definitely recommend it. Some of my favorite personal photos are from that garden. Allerton is very nice too. Personally I haven't been overly impressed with the McBryde garden which is just north of Allerton, but you may enjoy it as well. We visited it last year and I wish we'd just visited Allerton instead.

Definitely Allerton, not only because of the biotanicals but there are wonderful architectural features also.

Another vote for Allerton. Much of the tour is in shadows and some brilliant sunshine....plan your gear accordingly. Harry

I vote Allerton. And April is a great month to shoot flowers!

Na'aina kai is also nice. A lot of statues, and interesting gardens, even a maze! Almost sensory overload, but I think Allerton is more beautiful.

I love Allerton. BUT there is one thing you should know, if you are hoping to spend a lot of time composing your photos. The tour of Allerton is a guided tour, and your guide may have to move you along at times, so you may not have the time to take the shots you want.

It's a beautiful property and worth a visit, but the MacBryde garden nearby allows self-guided tours. Just a thought.

Is there a lot of flowers blooming now at the Allerton garden?

beckster is correct that the tour is guided. I can't speak to all guides but I found our guide had no problem moving on while I stayed to get the perfect picture. I always caught up and he never said anything to me. Having said that, you will have to compose somewhat fast. It is worth the visit.
