I wish I could see her. There was just a PBS special on her life. She said being in South Pacific changed her life.

One summer my mother bought us tickets to see Mitzi Gaynor at Lake Tahoe's Harrahs Club in the South Shore room. I said I wouldn't go, she was just a dumb dancer but of course tickets were bought and I was going or my behind would be red. I was 13 and it was one of the best nights of my life. She worked her buns off, had a beautiful voice and of course when she sang from SP the hairs on my arms stood up at attention. It started my love fest for Kauai.

"I'm as corny as Kansas in August,

High as a flag on the Fourth of July!

If you'll excuse an expression I use,

I'm in love, I'm in love,

I'm in love, I'm in love,

I'm in love with a wonderful guy!"

Oh yeah, I'm sure she had plenty of spotters, all kinds of people ready to jump in if a sneaker wave rolled in.

Here's another fun one from South Pacific. My personal favorite. Could you imagine any guys referring to a woman as a dame, today. Probably get clubbed. hehe

Thanks for starting this thread. Brings back good memories. It's early here and all of this South Pacific talk has motivated me to hop in the car today and head north. Probably Hanalei Bay as the old knees have a problem with the steeper trails down at other beaches. Thanks for motivating me to get off the lanai and get moving.
