Which side of the island w/ kids?

I was wondering which side of the island you would recommend we choose to stay at if we have young children (6,4,3). We will be there in late March?

Probably south, but there are nice beach areas and places with nice pools in other locations as well. In Poipu staying around Poipu Beach Park or Baby beach would be nice. On the east side, staying near Lydgte Park, which is a good place for children you might like. Kaha Lani condos are nearby. If you want more isolation, a cottage or home on Anini Beach up north is a great location with lots of calm shallow water. Just depends what atmosphere you are looking for. Sometimes more sun in the south that time of year, but not always.

Po`ipu. Lydgate is really the only swimmable beach on the east side, and in March the rock-enclosed pools can be filled with detritus from winter storms or too rough for swimming. Great play structure, though.

Poipu for sure. They have a wonderful area called "Baby's Beach" on Hoona Road. They are numerous homes for rent in this area. Also, Poipu Beach is a wonderful area for children. There are numurous condos in this area within walking distance of this nice beach with a great kids area. Do you have a budget in mind? House or condo?

I concur with everyone here. Poipu area is best for kids. North side is beautiful and worth a trip, but the kids would not have that much to do. I just got back from Kauai one week ago and we stayed in Princeville. Great for us because was quiet and just the two of us, but with kids, definitely Poipu area.
