Mountain Accomodations

Are there any places to stay deep in the mountains of Kauai or at least nearby?

There's the Kalaheo Inn: http://wizardpub.com/kauai/krkalaheoinn.html , although I know nothing about it.

Isn't Dilly Dally House way up on Waipouli Road? Anyone remember?

Maybe a cabin at The Lodge at Koke'e? (I know nothing about them.)

Not truly in the mountains but in the hills above Kapa`a. It comes highly recommended.

Aloha from Kaua'i!

The only places here "deep in the mountains" would be the cabins up in Koke'e Park that have been mentioned here before. They are very basic, have fireplaces and are in an amazingly beautiful area of Kaua'i. However, you are going to have a very, long and winding drive down the mountain to get to any stores and/or other amenities. There is "The Lodge" at Koke'e that has very, very basic staples and serves meals also.

The interior areas of Kaua'i are mostly inaccessible and the only people that I know who venture "deep" into the mountains -would be pig or goat hunters.

The areas where there are accomodations are all well away from the interior area of the island.

I'm not sure how you are defining what you want - so hope any of this helps!

Not sure what the situation is now, but Lodge at Kokee used to close at 3pm, so you would have to prepare your own dinner and drinks. Not sure if the cabins have kitchens or not either.

Aloha from Kaua'i!

No, that is still true, you can get breakfast and lunch at The Lodge, but not dinner.

Most cabins I believe all have some type of kitchen facility - and you can purchase wood for the fireplace from The Lodge.

People who we know, bring their own bedding with them, along with their food and drinks.

Cabins indeed are available, and as janet mentioned, very basic.

Give em a call at the lodge and get the up to date rates and availability.

Absolutely beautiful country up there.808-335-6061, that should at least get you started as to what is required.

Plenty of hikes in the area, between waimea canyon and on up to the pehea trail and beyond. Good info in the UKG. You will have access to plenty of forested areas and viewing points.
