Diving the Forbidden Isle of Ni'ihau: TR & Photo Blog

I had a wonderful opportunity to scuba dive offshore of Kauai near the island of Ni'ihau. Here is a bit of a trip report with some photos and video.

Wow ! We can see that you had a great time, and happy that the seas were calm and the passage easy.

Mahalo for your marvelously arranged photo and video presentations.

OMG, I'm so jealous. All those fish is just amazing!! Yes, that is a crown of thorns, you are right, not good. I've only seen one once, on Maui. I've seen a lot of jacks before but never one that big!!

Loco, thanks for again sharing some more of your great photos. Happy to see more photos posted by you as I've enjoyed your past photos on this forum.

While Lehua Rock isn't the best snorkeling spot it is a fabulous dive location for the bigger and more unique critters as your photos and videos show.

You are certainly most welcome Napa. Its great to share with so many others obviously infected with the 'Kauai' bug.

I got curious about Ni'ihau and got poking around google. I found a couple of youtube posts about about the island that give some pretty interesting details. I posted the links at the bottom of my blog.

3chih: Its hard to say what he weighed in at. Wikipedia has them growing to a max of 170 pounds but this guy was no where near that. I'd guess maybe 60-70 pounds? I'm comparing them to a 50 pound Chinook Salmon I held once.
