More Like $50 unless you use a shared van.

You might want to consider renting a car for your stay to get around to see the island. See the Top Question thread on the subject (right hand border list)

Jebett, where did you get that figure from? I've always paid 50 or so, one way. Even the shared shuttle through Speedi Shuttle is about $37.

I got it from a taxi website. Lihue to Poipu. I guess if you were going to The Hyatt or further down you would add $5. That was an approximate figure and since you do that drive, Napa, you would know better. Whatever it is it's not cheap! To Princeville its double.

I'll second what coalminer said - "Are you not going to rent a car?"

You need to rent a car. Kaua‘i is not Waikiki, taxis are expensive, the bus system is minimal and not set up for tourists. Walking is possible in some areas, but stuff is not close enough for a 5 minute walk....and the biggest reason is you'll miss all the best of Kaua‘i.

You really do need a car here. There's so much you will miss without ready transportation. And by the time you're done paying for taxis all over you may as well have rented.

Napa: I checked another site and it said $37-42 so you are probably correct that the one I had in my file hasn't updated.

barki,

Please rent a car. You will miss out on SOOOO much of what Kauai has to offer if you just hang out in Poipu. Also, by the time you hire a taxi for both ways, you could have easily rented a car for the same price. Koa Kea has plenty of parking for their guests.
