Rare whales spotted

Hawaii National Marine Sanctuary Foundation

"I just received a call from the vessel "Holoholo". Capt. Glenn just reported a sighting of a rare , lager group of False Killer Whales. At 1300 HST at approximately 5 to 7 nautical miles from Na Pali coast, Nohili Point off the PMRF Navy base. ... A group of 12 to 21 False Killer Whales were observed heading North West at an aggressive speed. Capt Glenn believed they may have been hunting/feeding. Shortly after the sighting while in the vicinity following the pod was a group of Ruffed Tooth mammals as well."

too cool, what a marvelous report. I am energized to look up false killer whales on the web, and learn about their habits and normal cruising grounds.

Not to be negative and all, but it could be PMRF doing sonar tests again that are so loud under water that whales and dolphins flee (or sometimes get so hurt they beach themselves and die).
