I've decided rigid raft would be too much for my mom [back issues].

Opinions on Captain Andys or Napali Catamaran with folks >65? I like that the Catamaran leaves from N Shore but Captn Andys seems more comfortable.

Thanks.

TnT:

I don't have the best back in the world and the Holo Holo rigid inflatable is not what you think. It is not like a zodiac which I have done as well. Just don't have her sit in the front where she would get wet. Now if she has really bad back issues, any boat might not be good. Napali Cat is a very good company, though, so that would be a good choice too.

Hmmm....Not sure what qualifies as "older folks". I'm 65 and I love the ride...but agree with Jebett that the rigid inflatable is more comfortable than the zodiacs. Have you asked your mom??? Captain's Andy's is awesome too but a completely different experience.

First, if your mom has a bad back, you might want to consult with her doctor or specialist. I am way out of my scope of practice to say, yea, go ahead. Also, we are not aware of her physical fitness. At 73 and Erica a bit younger, we are still enjoying all kinds of activities so a go , or no go is an individual situation.

Each one of us is quite different.

I do know that , as the others mentioned, the zodiacs are not a good plan, and the ocean tour companies even warn about bad backs and pregnant ladies as far as the fast rafts are concerned.

Also, I did not see the time of year, or what month you planned to do the Napali Coast. Right now there are no north shore departures until april or may of 2014.

Also, the larger boats will be more comfortable, but the boat is not on tracks like disney land, it is on a dynamic and moving ocean, with swells and wind waves. How is her balance, and what happens if she should fall......??

I've gone out with Holo Holo and Na Pali Catamaran and highly recommend both. My trip on Captain Andy's Southern Star was torture!

From earlier posts they are going in June so a North Shore departure is perfect.
