Recommendations for a cute cottage

We will be in Kauai June 10 - June 13th. We are looking for a cute cottage (would like ocean front) would like to keep the budget at $100-$200. Noting fancy would just like it to be clean with a great sitting area outside. Would also be interested with a condo that has a great view.

$100 for a cottage and oceanfront for THIS summer? If you find something let us all know.

A condo with a great view for $200 will be easier. Many places have minimum stay so 3 days might be tougher to find, but check out Sealodge in Princeville and look for someone's holes in their calendar.

This is the only one I can think of around your price but I would bet its booked.

Aloha fellow Alaskan! How many are coming with you? Would be helpful to know with making recommendations. Have you done any searching on vrbo.com yet? That is generally where I start and I have also had luck with this site: www.kauaivacationresorts.com/north1.html

I have seen a few in your budget - and there are plenty of condos in your range in the Princeville area - do you want ocean view or mountain view? :)

I just looked at your dates - only 3 days?? Is that right? Some places will have a minimum, just so you know.

There will be 2 of us, my husband and I. we would like an ocean view. We are also wondering what area is best? We are coming from rainy Sitka, so would like to stay where weather is best! Thank you.

I am not usually an eastside advocate, but take a look at Islander On The Beach. They are studios with coffee maker and microwave, a real bargain as far as price on the beach, and since you have such few days on the island its central to things you might want to see. Just remember the ocean right back isn't swimmable but during June you will be driving the North Shore for that activity.

Read the reviews because some of the negatives are valid but for 3 days and under $100 its fine.

Check out Castle Resorts at Kiahuna Plantation. I just punched in your dates and there are condos available for $174 and up. This resort is on one of the best beaches on Kauai and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We stay here every year. castleresorts.com/Home/accommodations/kiahun…

If you haven't been to Hawaii before, a good rule of thumb is one week per island, or you will be seeing more of the airports than the islands. Do you already have all your flights booked?

June is a great time weather wise for Hawaii - and I would stay on Kauai's northshore during that time. :)

I did see more cottages, but most have a longer minimum stay - usual was a 5-7 day stay. Here are a few in your budget/time frame:

Haena area:

http://www.vrbo.com/135408#s - don't give exact rates . . .

There were a few cottages near the river/Hanalei area - don't know if you would want that . . . they were on vrbo.

Kilauea area:

Moloaa Bay:

Okay - there is more than I thought . . . and you would also look at other areas on the island . .. but the cheaper the cottage, the less likely a view or close to the ocean. Good luck! :)

When my wife and I first came to Kauai, 20 years ago, we rented a place at Anahola Bay, and I see a number of places at the VRBO site that might suit you. A word of caution, this is a very quiet area, you'll have to drive for almost anything you want. The beach is sheltered, and the water is pretty shallow, its not a place where you can "play" in the waves, but its one of the few places where you can be oceanfront at a very reasonable price.
