Poipu to Lihue traffic

Leaving paradise to go back to the mainland tonight (Friday of Memorial Day weekend) on a 10pm flight. My gps says the trip should take 35 minutes- I am concerned as to whether traffic will be heavier because of the holiday- how much time should I allow?

Take LOTS of extra time tonight. It is graduation night for all the high schools and one event is very close to the airport.

Curious how the traffic was?

When it is bad we use the "back way" that brings you out at Nawiliwili Harbor.

Aloha from Kaua'i!

I never take the main highway all the way in from here on the South Shore to Lihu'e (it always backs up around the Kaua'i Nursery).....I turn off at the Kipu bypass on Hulemalu Road and take that all the way into town and turn on Halehaka Rd., which comes out behind the golf course and around Costco.

It takes me exactly 30 minutes normally.....that is during the weekday in the morning.
