Partial trip report

Day 0 - travel - didn’t arrive at OGG until about 9:30

Day 1 - B’fast @ Kihei Caffe - very good; lineup goes much faster than you think; picked up snorkeling gear for the week, and did a short ‘getting acclimatized’ snorkel @ Kamaole, saw the resident turtle; dinner @ Cafe O’ Lei

Day 2 - RTH day - picked up bento lunch from TJ’s - did all the usual stuff on the drive, went to Hana Bay to have lunch, wandered around Hasegawa’s General Store for a bit; stopped in Pa’ia on the way back for shopping

Day 3 - Snorkeling at Po’olenalena Beach - multiple turtle sightings; walking along Wailea’s beach pathway, wandering through the Shops and taking in their cultural show; dinner in the Shops

Day 4 - Another big breakfast @ Kihei Caffe (yeah, we like the place); drove up to Haleakala, should have been smarter and checked the temperature/wind, turns out we were very much underdressed for the conditions - spectacular nonetheless; stopped at the Surfing Goat Farm on the way back down - their cheese is really quite good; also the Sugar Museum - a good, small museum with good displays about the history of the sugar plantations, and the multi-ethnic workforce; then over to the Maui Cultural Center for their excellent art exhibit; back to Pa’ia for dinner at Flatbread, then some Friday Night Lights - Maui High v. Baldwin (one of our traditions when we visit any place is to take in a local high school sporting event - you really get a good sense of the community). A busy, but very enjoyable day!

Reports for Days 5 - 7 to come!

Where did you stay? Always interested in reading about lodging choices since it is usually the highest cost component of trip.

Love that you went to a local high school game. I bet you start a trend. Thank you for your report. We too enjoyed the Kihei Cafe but, the first time there, we were totally overwhelmed by the quantity of food. Thank you for staying loyal to our Canuck's.
