We're in the midst of planning a couples trip (6 adults) to Maui for June. Is a rental car suggested? We would go off the property for meals, shopping, etc. But are there rideshare options on the Island?
Thanks in advance.
Yes ... a car is recommended (probably 2 for your group). Maui is awesome for exploring scenery!
There are taxis, uber (maybe Lyft?), airport shuttles and tour companies ... but I think you'd enjoy the flexibility (and economy) of having vehicles.
How long are you going for?
Where are you staying, too?
We'll only be there for 5 nights. And we're narrowing on a vacation rental where we can all be together.
Please consider posting any rentals ***before*** booking. If you are looking for houses, cottages, or "off the beaten path" places, they are often illegal rentals. That can mean all kinds of problems.
If you are looking at condos in south or West Maui, you're *prob* looking at legal ones. But some places prohibit short term rentals in their CCR's. It can again result in huge problems for you.
With six people and luggage, you really need 2 cars. Shuttles aren't cheap, and neither are cabs. Yes, uber is here-Lyft too, but for 6 you may end up needing the higher priced options with them.
Also consider that if you get just 1 condo..some will only allow 1 parking spot...
Ooops! Thanks. :-) Is one area recommended over the other?
