mama fish house - desserts and drinks only?

We'd like to enjoy the atmoshpere and view during lunch hours, but...

we don't like seafood + there is nothing there to eat for our young child.

Is that ok to sit for some desserts and yummy drinks?

With the kind of prices at that place, they are quite used to the "quickie guest". Hopefully, you will get a sympathetic server ;) Either way, Mama's will happily take your $$$.

I would certainly hope they'd take your $16 for a glass of wine!

If $10.00 is your idea for a MaiTai is good, then by all means enjoy the view. Personally the view glorification wears off fast once the bill arrives. Had eaten once just to say we did. But never again and as far as I'm concernd the food & views are available at way to many restuarants with better prices. Add to that the gasoline cost and it makes for 1 expensive meal. Just one guys opinion.

Signsource is dead on! Maybe if you've never been there and really need to be able to say you had, then go for it. It's way overrated.

Agree, while Mama's FIsh house is a nice enough location and food. This cost is kind of crazy.

How about ... for something fun, different and child-friendly, why not go upcountry to Kula Lodge. You can order anything you like there, good variety, decent prices, very nice staff. Fab views of Haleakala and the west Maui mountains; plus you still have ocean views, just not ocean sounds [although at Mams's unless you know someone or bribe someone, the chances of getting a good table where you can HEAR the ocean are rare]. Kula Lodge also has an outdoor area - but may only be open for dinner or special events. It has a very cozy, mountain lodge interior ... plus an art gallery in one section. Upcountry is generally cooler and air is so clear - feels great after a hot day on the beach.

A super fun kid activity is to stop at Harold Rice park in Kula. It has a restroom, stone picnic tables, an overlook parking area, and some nicely angled grassy slopes. Lots of local kids slide down on cardboard boxes or even their boogie boards. Wonderful view of BOTH shores and the isthmus; great for sunsets. We like to picnic here, perhaps hang, relax, read. Definitely get the camera out!!!

Just FYI.... I had a wonderful New York Srip at Mamma's for lunch.

You have so many options on Maui. 'Just skip Mama's and go somewhere else ...

I doubt that they will take a reservation for drinks and dessert -- and you will most likely have to wait.

We went once, the food was OK, but the sticker-shock was cruel. Again - you have so many nice restaurants on Maui -- so why bother with Mama's?
