FIRST TIMER . . . book activities now or when we get there?

My husband and I will be in Maui September 3 - 10, and we are SO excited! I've tried to use what I've learned on this board and not plan too much for too little time. Here's my "rough draft" schedule.

Saturday afternoon - arrive, check-in to Wailea hotel, explore

Sunday - helicopter tour, beach time

Monday - beach/lounge time

Tuesday - Road to Hana

Wednesday - switch to our Lahaina hotel, explore, maybe Valley Tour

Thursday - Old Lahaina Luau

Friday - snorkeling trip

Saturday - purchase souvenirs, pack and enjoy last day!

Couple of questions . . .

- should we book helicopter and snorkeling trips prior to arriving?

- is the sunrise bike ride worth looking into?

- what am I missing? what other suggestions do you have for "big ticket" sightseeing/attractions?

Thanks so much for your help! September can't come soon enough!!!!!!

Looks pretty good if you are high energy.

Changing hotels takes most of the day:

"Wednesday - switch to our Lahaina hotel, explore, maybe Valley Tour"

I'll let those with experience comment on pre-booking. I don't do many activities, but those I have done ( a Molokini trip, surfing lessons) we did not pre-book.

I never book in advance. If you are planning on doing a heli tour the day after you arrive, you might want to book that in advance. You might also want to think about spending the 1st full day there relaxing and getting used to time change rather than the heli tour and do the heli tour another day. Just my opinion. Have a great time!

p.s. Old Lahaina Luau seems to book early, so you might want to book that in advance too. I have never been, but everyone seems to say that it books way early. I have always been to the Marriott Luau and never had a problem booking that one. It is fun as well.

Half of our stay is compliments of my Marriott points. We didn't want to spend $350 per night for the remainder of the stay, so we are switching to the Maui Guest House. It will be time consuming, but it will save us quite a bit of $$, so I'm up for it.

And we've already booked our luau tickets (thank goodness!).

Thanks for the great advice! Keep it coming!

Helicopter ride yes I book before going.

Snorkeling I would do from the shore and forget the trip.

Sunrise bike ride somw love it some hate it. Of no interest to me.

Do the road to Hana and go all the way around

Do lots of snorkeling it wonderful plus very relaxing.

Have fun a go with the flow eat well and diet if needed when you get home.

Becareful of Mauijons advise he has a web page he posts at the ends of his posts. Someof his info is ok some not.
