Recommendations on Condo

We are traveling in July or Aug to Maui - we want a true Oceanfront condo near the Whaler's Village but cannot afford to spend over $650 per night which most places are asking. Can someone recommend options of nice complexes (that are not having construction nearby)?

If you haven't already, go to vrbo.com. They have plenty of condos on there at different prices. They will have Ka'anapali listed. You should be able to find a nice condo for less. I just took a quick look and they are about half the price you listed.

Good luck!!

Mahana, everything is O/F. I hear the construction is not a big deal but check the recent reviews.

The Whaler is literally right next door to Whaler's Village on Kaanapali beach. PRIMO location. Close to Blackrock, Whalers, Hula, Leilani's, Tropica, massages at The Westin, nightly hula show at Kaanapali Beach Hotel, etc.

Like Del said, look on vrbo.com. We rent a condo at The Whaler from that website every year. One bedroom two bath ocean view for less than $300/night. LARGE condo's with huge lanai's. One bedroom oceanfront is still less than $650/night.

Ali'i is another option but more pricey and views are not as good, in my opinion.

This is a long, as in 30-40" walk in sand, but 5-10" drive to Whaler's Village. Whaler's Village is what I consider a shopping mall so we didn't mind not being so close. We also like being able to relax in the evening on the lanai and don't mind grilling or getting good carry out to bring back to condo.

We stayed in 1205. The views are incredible.

Another search option for your is www.wizardpub.com Clidk on the Maui link and you'll get a listing of most of the resort and condo complexes on the island. When you click on a particular resort, you'll see an aerial photo of the property, and a review with prices.

As you look at properties, note that there is a difference between "oceanfront" and "beachfront" properties. For example, many of the properties in Kahana sit right on the shoreline but have little or now sandy beach. And if they do, it is often a small sliver of sand that is only accessible during low tide.

It would be helpful to know what your lodging budget is so we can help steer you in the righ direction. But there are indeed properties along Ka'anapali beach for much less than $650 a night. You might also consider some of the properties along Napili Bay. It's a bit quieter there, just a 10 minute drive from Ka'anapali, and the properties there are literally steps from a georgeous sandy bay.

We rented a condo at Maui Kaanapali Villas through Kaanapalibeachrentals.com. It's Suite 293--check it out. It's in the Emerald building at the resort, which is closest to the beach. MKV is right past the Sheraton and Black Rock. The beach there is gorgeous. We stayed at the Sheraton last year and could see the beach at MKV from our room.
