Aloha,

From Kaanapali Beach, try Gemini, Teralani, or Trilogy. All great locally owned companies with good equipment, crews, food, and fun. They will go somewhere along the west/northwest coast, wherever the conditions are best. In summer, they frequently go to Honolua Bay.

The other advantage of these trips is that they depart around 9:30 to 10:00 am. Way nicer than 7 AM over at Maalaea Harbor!

Hi hanalei,

Lucky you. Definitely check "swm's" suggestions. Also c/out Capt. Woody's. (Smaller boat, way fewer people, more personalized attention, higher pricetag).

I'm still searching similar topic with different considerations...two partying adults who like to snorkel and dive....while getting most for $'s.

Good luck. Google all recommendations for needs fulfillment.

Have fun.

Best snorkel boats to the best spots will be season dependent. Also where you are staying will have a hand in which harbor you leave from. I always enjoy going as early as possible. Best chance for best ocean conditions are the early morning hours. By 10:00am, the trade winds may pick up which makes for choppy water which makes for poor visibility. Trilogy also leaves from Maalaea and Lahaina.

So far, we have tried Trilogy, Capt. Woody of Underwater Discoveries, and Bluewater Rafts. While all were very good, I have to say we loved Capt. Woody's trip most of all. This was due to the small amount of people onboard which made it much more personal. When you contact him you can ask if he can put you on with some other people which lowers the cost but if you go out on your own with him it can be pretty pricey.

Have a great time!

Highly recommend Trilogy - to Lanai for an all-day trip. Also there is a trip out of Ka'anapali (which is SO handy if you are staying there) where the Captain chooses the place with the best snorkeling conditions of the day. Great crew, food ... their boats take around 30 people.

Aloha,

The later trips out of K'pali have had this schedule for years......and on the West side, the winds aren't like the South side! Honest, really, truly. It's always been one of those funny weather micro climate things. Rock and Roll at Maalaea by noon......flat at Honolua, Outer reef at Olowalu, up by Kapalua......

Trust me, they wouldn't keep the trips at those times if everyone was **feeding** the fish over the side of the boats!
