What about Cane and Taro in the same building?

Agree! Hula Grill, try the outside barefoot bar instead of inside.

Personally, I'd stay away from Cane & Taro. Good location, horrible service, uneven food. There's a reason you don't see this one on here very much. It's a tourist venue that doesn't care about return customers

Leilanis outdoor bar. Lighter meal and reasonable.

or upstairs if you want great coconut shrimp.

Hula Grill is a little more upscale. Dining room is beautiful.

Sometimes you can get in faster if you will sit by the pizza oven.

No view and hot.

Can't go wrong ate either one. We usually register at both bars and

see who has space first. For the full dinner menus then Hula

Grill is a little more money and has a little more adventurous

food.

Aloha,

Well, I'm late to the party, but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyway! I'd take Hula Grill over Leilani's, and I'd def take C&T over Leilani's too.......sorry, I think Leilani's has slid a lot in the last couple of years. C&T had its issues as a new place-what restaurant doesn't--but Rex, it's much more consistent than when you tried it. They did change the menu quite a bit-narrowed it and focused on doing fewer dishes. That has perhaps helped. Read the recent reviews, Rex, and you'll see I'm not alone in liking it!

We always make a trip to the Hula Grill and sit out in the sand. It just says "Hawaii" to me to have my toes in the sand, have a tropical cocktail, and live music. (OK, "Tourist Hawaii", but who cares!) And the people watching is excellent, as well.

Leilani's didn't excite me when I tried it and I haven't been to the C&T.

SWM

Thanks for your comment directed at me. We'll be back on island soon and we might give it another try. It was certainly an improvement over the old "Harpoon" and I do think C/T was trying to do too much on the menu; it was all over the place. Rarely do you find a restaurant that has that type of menu do everything on it well. Glad to see they've maybe cut down on what doesn't sell.
