West Maui

Taking a trip to Maui in June with two kids (11 and 7). Looking for suggestions for where to stay in the Kaanapali area - good hotels for famillies with a nice pool.

Thanks in advance.

The Westin Maui Resort and Spa has one of the most elaborate pool and water park features of the resorts along Ka'anapali Beach. While not as elaborate, the Sheraton also has a nice pool area with a nice 'lazy river' feature. Both enjoy great stretches of beach.

Here is a link where you can look at all of the properties along Ka'anapali Beach. Click on a property and you will see an aerial photo with review and rack rate prices (you can do much better). There will also be a link to the property's web site...

Agree with the post above, I would also add the Hyatt, has elaborate swimming pools, a separate one fopr the kiddies.

Good advice on the hotels, however with kids that age have you considered a condo? Much more room to spread out and some savings on the food bill. What is your nightly budget?

Elaborate pools are nice, but I agree with mama, a condo is much nicer for a Maui vacation. Look at Honua Kai in Ka'anapali.

And for what it is worth, I am not a Westin Hotel fan at all, Westin Villas, yes, hotel? NO!

The Hyatt is nicer and so is the Sheraton.

Hotel: Hyatt Ka'anapali. Great kids pool and kids club. Large rooms. Excellent location.

I don't recommend the Westin Resort (hotel) - but I do recommend the Westin Villas (condos). Two different locations.

The Sheraton is nice, but they don't cater to kids - in my experience.
