Maui in August for couple to relax :)

Need some advice on resorts/villas in Maui in August. Here are a few pre requisites:

* Walking distance to the beach for swimming

*Restaurants close by

* Not huge party animals so live entertainment not essential

*Maybe not a resort that is likely to be full of kids

thanks in advance

What is you nightly accomodation budget in $$USD?

Are you going to be renting a car?

Without information, somewhere in Kaanapali would fit.

Just returned from Honua Kai just outside Kaanapali. Overrun with kids and no adult only area. Just FYI.

Yes, a budget would be helpful. Two places come to mind. One would be the Ritz in Kapalua. Meets almost all your criteria. The other would be the Makena Beach and Golf Resort in south Maui. Meets some of your criteria. They are on opposite ends of the island from each other and both set apart from all the other hotels. In August it will be hard to find a place to stay that doesn't have some children.

The Kapalua Villas may suit your needs. I have not stayed there, but I have walked through the property many times. They seem more private compared to other places that I have stayed.

Kapalua Bay is a gorgeous beach withing walking distance. Expect lots of kids on all the beaches in August. Very good restaurants are in the Kapalua area, also it's not to far of a drive to Kaanapali from there.

Makena Resort doesn't have restaurants nearby, not in the sense that they are walkable. You can drive, but it's a couple of miles.

Our budget is about $200-$300 per night and renting a car is quite likely :)

Ritz and Makena Beach Resorts do indeed fit the bill, except I think Ritz is over your budget. But Makena Beach should work. It is the last resort on South Maui, just south of Wailea. This resort is very peaceful and quiet. And it is on a great beach. Good for swimming and excellent for snorkeling.

Both Ritz and Makena are not walking distance to restaurants, but there are lots of restaurants within a short drive away.
