Best Beginner Surf Breaks on Maui?

I'm looking for a surf break that is easy to paddle out to, has a nice long rolling break and where boards can be rented on the beach.

Thanks!

We'll need a couple pieces of info first.....time of the year? South side or Westside?

But for some general information:

Depending upon the swell, beginner breaks are available on the south side of Lahaina Harbor (can take lessons there or rent a board a block or two on Prison St.) or south of town at Launiupoko Park (probably no rentals there).

One break at Kaanapali has rentals on the beach.

The park has potentially longer rides, however none of these breaks are like Waikiki that rolls forever. Also, none are purely sandy bottoms...booties are helpful over the coral and rock.

All can be fun and are easily accessible.

Rent from a shop in Lahaina and they will give you the current information.

It also doesn't hurt to take a surf lesson or two to tune up your skills and surf ettiquette, and find out which areas are newb friendly and which areas you need to stay away from.

A place called "the cove" at the southern end of Kalama Park in Kihei would be a good place. You can rent boards across the street.
