Late afternoon activities for family.

Hi, we are staying in Honokowai mid.August (mom, dad, teens 14 and 18). Any suggestions for late afternoon activities? Thank you.

Late afternoons for us are great for the beach, particularly boogie boarding.

We like to go to the beach during early mornings and late afternoons. It is the mid of the day that we try to find other activities to do. Mid-day sun is too strong, so we like to stay out of the water to avoid it. Then we head back into the water in the late afternoons. Late afternoon usually has wind that bring about the surf, so it is great for boogie boarding.

We hang out on the beach in the morning and then explore Maui after a lunch in the area we are checking out. e.g. Pa'ia Fish Market or Charley's for lunch then wandering the shops of Pa'ia then making sure to check out the wave action at Ho'okipa........Mama's Ribs & Rotisserie in Napili, driving the west side route to see the blowhole, snorkelers could stop at Honolua Bay and swimmers could check out DT Fleming Beach before or after the Nakelele Blowhole....Aloha Mixed Plate and then checking out Lahaina and it's historical spots.

We enjoy the pool in the late afternoon or maybe another beach. We've been to Maui enough that most of our decisions about plans are made the night before or during coffee on the lanai in the morning. I would emphasize being spontaneous and giving the kids a big say in daily plans. It's true that you can't be on the beach every minute but with sunscreen and a good umbrella, you can be there a lot longer!

We also have had fun checking out thrift stores, miniature golfing, Iao Needle, Kanaha Beach Park by the airport was awesome for checking out windsurfers and para sailers, frisbee on the condo lawn and just reading while the young adults ( our 22 & 24 yr old kids) catch up on their friends via laptop or phone! Just some ideas....Have fun! Deb
