3 hours to kill

Hi

We are having a wonderful time in Kauai..on the swayback we have a 3 hour stopover in Maui. This includes checking time as well. No checked bags..only carryon are there places to stove them?

We have never Been to Maui..any places to visit near the airport and kill some time?

Thank you so much for any suggestions!

There is no place to store your carry on's. The 3 hours include going through security? At what time of day? Will you rent a car? Not much around the airport itself. It would be a long walk into Kahului.

You'll have to visit Maui "next time." Three hours will go by quickly.

Arriving 1010 am and departing 1:15pm

Was thinking of a bus/shuttle as transportation

Thank you much for the replies!

Remember that you will need to be back to the airport for check in and such - 90 minutes in advance.

Not even close to enough time to do anything. Most flights leave at 11am. The lines for security are packed. Walk the airport, buy a pineapple or Mauna Loa nuts, eat a slow lunch, get to your gate.

I've been lurking on this forum in anticipation of our January visit. A recurring theme is the busy airport, especially security check-in. On that basis alone, I would stay within the airport.

Some of that should be taken care of, they added more security lines and new machines that should make it go a bit faster. You can get a local bus that will take you to the local mall from the airport and that is about it. Shuttles go to the various hotels and condo's and are more expensive to use. You really only have about an hour and a half of free time.

Until I get a feel for those new security lines I wouldn't risk it. We always check in 2 hours before our flights home to the mainland. OGG is not that bad to just "hang out" in!

Maybe splurge to hang out in the Hawaiian Airlines lounge?
