I would start with my own car insurance company. See what you have and what you need and what they can (or cannot) provide.

Check with your agent, we needed to have a certain clause added to insurance to ensure that our coverage from home transferred to a rental car. It was easy to do and don't even think it cost anything. I'm in BC and roadstar as well.

Don't forget there are two levels of Roadstar from ICBC. There are some extra perks with one of them.

I have a TD Visa Infinite Travel card and they do cover collision and some other stuff. READ CAREFULLY to make sure you have proper coverage, including loss of use of the rental car. We also spent a few more dollars to add the Roadstar program to our basic insurance.
