10 Signs the Bamboo Forest isn't for you.."

This was too good to not pass along. It's fun but also serious. Please also read the link Bamboo forest in the article. It will take you to another Maui Now story about the 13 hikers that had to be airlifted to safety.

If you haven't read SW's post about High Winds, read that.

We want the visitors to be safe and enjoy their vacation.

#6 is sexist and agest, perhaps. I know lots of people, of both sexes, who think "hike" is just the last part of an insult ("Take a hike") or a type of Japanese poetry. I did like the line about walking inside the fast food joint. Many years ago, two women I worked with were worried they couldn't get to the restaurant a block or two away for lunch because neither had a car that day.

I loved it and it gave me a good laugh! Thanks for the giggles and good food for thought, too! I think Mike purposely left his hiking shoes at home last trip to avoid me hauling him up any trails......LOL! Deb

Funny. I want to do the hike so I hope the weather clears a bit soon! I've been hiking plenty so no worries. Of course flash floods are another ballgame all together. Would rangers be around at the trailhead to advise of any safety issues.

Why were they airlifted, due flash flooding???

Never mind previous post.. I guess that was a different hike. I just found it online. Any caveats (flash floods) on the Pipiwai Trail?

Thanks for this!

I agree about #6, weak one.

I was looking at her other links and found this one that I like even better:

Dear would be Olawalu to Iao hiker

Also on the theme of airlifts but even better black humor IMHO.
