February honeymoon in Maui, where to stay?

My fiancé and I are planning our February honeymoon in Maui but we don't know where to stay. We read that in some parts it rains more than others and we were wondering which place would be the best one to stay? We are on a tight budget, maybe 150 per night or less. Thanks for your help :)

We're on Maui every Febraury. We enjoy South Maui, where the oceans are calmer in winter. You'd have OK weather from Kahana on south if you want West Maui. You may need to add a bit to your lodging budget, and look for condos. February is peak of whale season. I'd advise you to reserve your rental car right now; there is a limited supply of cars, and this is a busy season.

February is winter time and that brings rain. Sometimes huge storms. Other times, lots of sunshine. With your budget, which is fairly low for Maui, look in Maalaea or Kihei. This is where you will find the most "budget friendly" lodging. The area of Kapalua and Napili sit at the bottom of the west Maui mountains which gets a lot of rainfall due to the trade showers. That is why it's so pretty and very green up there!!

You might be able to get a room at the Days Inn which sits on a beautiful beach in south Maui for that price.

The Maui Lu would fall in that category but please son't stay there..really really run down.

If you rent a condo, either a studio or 1 BR you will a larger choice of places. Maui has many great condos for rent. Check out VRBO, where you rent direct from owner or check with rental agencies. Here are a few agencies that rent in the Kihei area.

Congratulations on the up coming wedding. As soon as you know your dates get a car reserved, you will need a car if staying on Maui. Many folks use Discount Hawaii Car Rentals to find the best deal. Do not prepay for a car until pick up.

Your accomodations budget is very low. And you need to factor in taxes and sometimes a resort fee and/or parking fee. And with a condo, often a cleaning fee.

There are some cheaper places in the Kihei area ... and I think you have some of the links above. You would have more options with a "healthier" budget.
