free public parking in k-pal?

So is there any free parking in Kaanapali, (south of black rock)?

Preferably before 7 am?

My wife and I are usually out the door by 5:30 am and have been jogging from Napili to the 30 above D.T. Flemming and back but would like to remember our first stay by walking the beach walk at Kaanapali. Public parks don't open til 7 and I am tired of getting (well, you know), at whalers village parking lot.

Thanks

Get to the Sheraton. There are 20 parking spots there for beach access only.

Actually, all the hotels have to supply parking spots for the general public to access the beach. You do have to tell the "gate" person though.

Never did figure out the parking at the Sheraton although know the other free spots. Are you saying you can drive up to the gate and request access to free parking

At the Sheraton you don't need to see anyone at a gate. about 20 feet from the South wall of the building there is a ramp entrance to their parking structure. Drive in and right there ahead and to your left are the 20 beach access spots. There are usually spots still avail at 8:00 am.

Walk out and to the South about 50 feet or so you will see the fence lined path down to the beach. About 50 feet down the path there is a gate through the fence that leads to the public access spots in the Kaanapali Beach Hotel's parking lot.

When you're done at the beach simply drive out the way you came in.

Thanks for the great details Dave! You were the one that told "us" on TA about the spots in the first place I think.

If you go to some of the other hotels, they might very well have a "gate" person. At the Ka'anapali Shores, we always had a gate person, as there was a gate that he controlled to gain access to the parking lot.

There is also a small parking lot between the Westin and Whalers village. Not well marked between a couple of big trees. Looks a lot like a service entrance. If I remember right the first part of the lot is reserved for business' but out by the beach behind Leilani's is 20 or 30 beach spots. That early you can probably find a spot. When we went there for our Blue`aina trip with Trilogy we got there at 8 and there was still a few spots left. The parking lot is not even 50ft. from the beach walk.

A great walk is to park in the empty lot next to Kaanapali Fairway shops. There is a single level office building or just park at Fairway shops. You can make a circle walk from the hill to the hyatt and then oceanfront and then circle back on the beach path between the KBH and Sheraton and then back up the hill. This loop is a one hour walk.
