Can we bring "Poke" on our flight to mainland?

Hello,

Does anyone know if we would be allowed to bring "Poke" back to California? My family loves "Poke" and prefers it over chocolate covered macademia nuts. My plan is to buy from Costco by the airport just before our departure at 10:30pm and would hand carry. I know they are strict with agriculture, how about Poke? Thank your help. We depart this weekend and anxious to hear from anyone who may know. Thank you in advance.

Aloha,

Yes you can take your Poke.

I have used a little canvas cooler before.

I bet it will be gone before they shut the doors to the airplane !

Thats a long wait before takeoff.

Aloha

Dear Jet83,

I appreciate your quick reply! The canvas cooler is a good idea, which I have a few of but don't want to bring with me. Are they readily available at Whaler's Village (ABC store)? Or can you suggest where I can get them? I know Costco here in our neighborhood carry them sometimes. I agree the temptation would be hard to resist so I'll be sure and buy extra for us to enjoy before our flight.

Have a great week.

Aloha Lena,

I have got them at the Walmart in Kahului, but the ABC should carry them.

Have you tried Poke and Poi ?

Have a great time,

Aloha

Aloha! Yes, I've tried Poke and loved it...Poi not too much. In fact, I've tried making it using some recipe but does not come out the same. My husband and I are so looking forward to our Poke extravaganza during our short stay in Maui.

Mahalo, Mele Kilikimaka, and Hang Loose are some of the words I remember from previous visit (long time ago).

Cheers...

I just had some terrific poke last week and now, because I read your post, am craving it again! Good thing I have a source.

dont be surprised if the people seating behind you on the flight start peering between the seats wishing they had some! reminds me of the time some guy came on the plane sitting in front of us with a whole Costco combo pizza. damn. that was a tough 5 hour flight.

Well, at the risk of being beat up ... please be considerate of the smell. No matter what food you bring on the plane.

Really your best bet is to cruise through Long's Drug's, buy your own spices for poke and make your own at home! We've enjoyed over 10 years of fresh poke that way! Yum
