January busy time?

I need to get out to Maui for a few days for pre-wedding planning. It looks like I can try either between the 2-6th or the 20-23rd (MLK Weekend) of January. I understand that Christmas and New Years, and by extension the days after that, but would MLK Weekend be any better? We are trying to avoid peak prices for a hotel (something budget and far from the beach for this trip) and a rental car. Any advice on doing that while working on a teacher's schedule?

Suggest trying a package deal - air/hotel/car through sites such as Expedia, Hotwire or Travelocity.

Try Priceline as well. I know I got a crazy price for the Westin Maui for our trip in January for 3 nights (189 dollars). Priceline does air hotel car packages as well. Good luck. January is high season because of the whales and us people in the frozen north escaping the cold :)

The absolutely most popular week on Maui is Feb 14. and it is pretty full all around then.

Prices go up Dec 15th and stay up.

Maui is not very seasonal. It tends to be great weather that suits someone from somewhere that is having unfavorablly hot or cold weather in their home town.
