Rain in the forecast...how bad is it really?

I'm heading to wailea for a few days with some friends and the weather forecast is looking grim. Any idea if we can expect to see sun? Any tips for things to do if we are rained out for days?

There is a front moving in and it supposed to hit Maui on Saturday night, might last until sometime on Sunday. The next couple of days look good after that and then it looks like another storm coming in. Remember, any forecast more than 2 days out can be wrong and a lot of the time it is. We've had dozen's of weather related questions this past week, check out some threads for things to do.

Just remember that even if it rains it's a whole lot warmer on Maui than it is here in good ole' Washington!

Well, as usual (LOL), the forecast was wrong. Rain started late yesterday afternoon out on the east side, and moved into Kahului etc. last night. Plenty of rain overnight in NW Maui..............it promises to be and off and on day. Partly cloudy partly sunny and beautiful colors since sunrise!

Humid in South Kihei yesterday, overnight, and this morning. Sun rising over Haleakala showed us a nice rainbow over the West Maui Mountains. Sun, then clouds, then a sun shower, sunny again now at about 10 a.m. If the pattern so far this winter continues, all of Maui will be green! Bring your umbrella -- and your sunscreen! (Snow at home and temps dipping below freezing. 80F indoors at our condo at dawn.)

We got caught in a driving rainstorm today - windshield wipers could barely keep up and there were some serious puddles in road dips. An hour earlier we had been slathering on sunscreen at the swap meet.

We ran the full gauntlet of weather during our ten days....we still enjoyed ourselves even on rainy days...just remember it's Maui so it's awesome!

Same as runningwithscissors - although we made it back to condo before the downpour (that lasted quite a while). Thankful it didn't really rain at the swap meet until almost closing time. I loved that place!

I just downloaded a new app called "SkyMotion" It is a "live" weather app that will tell you the weather in a certain location "now." It is new and I don't know how well it works yet but might give it a try if we are in a rainy spot- like up in Kapalua to see what is happening in South Maui at the moment and in the next few hours to see if it worth the drive if that was a dedicated beach day for us. That said all planning goes out the window because once we are on the island we are just as happy to read a book on the lanai and watch the rain while we sip Pog. :)
