We have had some show up here on the Oregon coast at a local supermarket chain. I think someone else either here or in Washington mentioned they had them recently also. The ones here were very small and not as tasty as the huge ones we get at Maui Costco but still a good, low acid pineapple.
Never see them in L.A. Trader Joe's pre-cut spears are pretty good, though, as a substitute.
I just can't justify paying huge money to purchase them online.
We've seen them at the Whole Foods here in Austin every now and then.
Your local Safeway in Antioch should have them, our's does.
Just bought one last week at Safeway here in little ol' Dallas, Oregon (pop. 15,000) for $3. It was actually a decent size, but still needed several more days to fully ripen. Will probably finish off the last few morsels today.
Headed to Maui for 15 days in October!. Woohoo!!!
hmmmmm, guess I'll have to check out my local Safeway's and see if they have any (fingers crossed) Thanks for the heads up info.
After a pineapple is picked, it won't ripen any further. The freshness will only diminish.
