Condo opinions requested (links below)

We're in! I'm done vacillating--MAUI HERE WE COME!

So now it's on to condos. As a refresher, my ideal is to keep it <=$150 before taxes, but that could go up if we can stay long enough to waive the cleaning fee. Here are some places I've found, but would love input on these and any others you think might work for us.

Papakea #B207

http://www.westmauicondos.com/property/papakea-b207?rcav[begin]=04/25/2015&rcav[end]=05/02/2015

http://www.vrbo.com/286412 (makena 7th floor studio--looks really nice)

http://www.vrbo.com/350079 hale ono loa $125/night + tax (no cleaning fee mentioned?!?)

I can't find a picture of Hale Ono Loa on Hawaii Revealed. They used to have one (I saw it mentioned here) but now that link is dead and it isn't on their list. Is there any reason anyone can think of for that?

http://www.vrbo.com/26580 napili bay

http://www.vrbo.com/589101 napili--re-done but no view

http://www.vrbo.com/65023 napili w/ small view

http://www.vrbo.com/570576# newer--one review

http://www.vrbo.com/32918 napili bay

And I'm also interested in the one mentioned by UNCMOM2011 Nohonani 203

www.nohonanicondos.com (They have pictures of more than one condo--but it has to be one of those)

I'm still looking but the Makena one and the Hale Ono Loa one are the top runners (I think). Thoughts welcomed!

Thank you all.

I don't like the Hale Ono Loa one..........too much "stuff" right in front of you, and I think having the lanai down in front could be problematic if people congregate there.

The Mahana unit (not Makena!) is nice. I also like a couple of the Napili ones, but stay away from the one that says "8 minute walk to beach". If they have to time it that closely, it prob means more like ten minutes, LOL.

Agree the Mahana one is nice for the view. Never stayed there but the Napili Bay resort is right on a nice stretch of beach.

Congratulations on making the decision to go to Maui!

The Mahana is a great resort ... if you can up your budget to make that one work, then I would go for it. You'll be amazed by the views!

The Napili Bay unit is towards the back - hawaiirevealed.com/free-travel-info/maui/mau… & it doesn't look like you'd have any ocean view.

Agree with SW re the 2nd Napili unit - worth getting an address to check the location on google maps if you are interested in it.

I haven't looked at the rest, but when are you going, and is a/c a 'want' or 'need'? How important is a w/d in the unit vs. in the complex? And how important is the view? Just a few questions to consider that might help narrow down your choices.

If your going to stay at the Napili Bay Resort spend the extra 20.00 to 30.00 a night to get one of the 8 or so OF units,if any are available, well worth it in the long run. it is interesting at the NBR all the lanai chairs have to be TALL types to see over the lanai encloseure.

I'm not driven by air-conditioning. If we had it, we might use it, but I think we're ok if we don't.

W/D: would be nice, but, again, I'll survive without it. (My husband and I more or less met backpacking--we'll make do or pay for it as needed.)

Sorry about my confusion re: the Mahana. Names are starting to blur, obviously.

View: I initially said I didn't care, but it looks like I can get one with a few dollars more/night. While I don't need to be front/center, having at least a peek-a-boo view would be nice.

You can't go wrong in Napili whether your on the beach or have to walk about ten minutes, the only thing good about Honokowai is the farmers market and you can drive there in about 5 minutes from Napili. The one in Honokowai 350079 has some nice beach pictures with no caption because that beach is not in Honokowai it's Airport Beach.

Jimgloria ... I wondered that too, but I see in one of the links that the OP posted, that it shows dates of April 25 - May 2, 2015.

cotonwed - it sounds like you are fairly flexible, so I would try to narrow it down to one that works with your budget and provides a view. Agree that a w/d won't make or break the trip, and a/c may or may not be needed/used. I think the view will be the thing that you appreciate the most . I don't agree with Bazza's comment that you can't go wrong in Napili whether you're on the beach or have to walk 10 minutes to it ... if one on the beach is within your budget, then the one that is a 10 minute walk away is wrong IMO. I'd compromise on the decor and go for view.

I loved #203 at Nohonani it was perfect for us I don't think they have any pics of it on the website but it was great nice updated kitchen and nice big tiled walk in shower loved that I am not a bath person. It has all tile floors which is great at the beach IMO. The biggest draw is the oceanfront Lanai you just can't imagine the view you wake up to every day.

We hope to stay in that unit on our next trip and some girlfriends and I are taking a trip to Maui next fall and looking at Staying at Nohonani we will probably need two bedrooms for that trip.

What a coincidence, we are going to stay in this exact unit http://www.vrbo.com/350079 hale ono loa next January. We are going with friends who are staying in another condo in the same building. They have stayed at the hale ono loa before, and really liked it. They said it was very clean, convenient, and quiet. I also think it's a very good value.
