Splurge Night at Grand Wailea

We're staying in a timeshare condo in Kihei in August for 9 nights. Staying in a condo works great for us as we love heading to the beach/exploring then returning to our condo at night to cook our own dinner and relax.

However, we'd like to experience a little 'resort' time on our upcoming trip. Last time on Maui, we walked around the Grand Wailea and were in awe of the expansive grounds and pools. Our kids are 11 and 14 and would be in heaven there. We're thinking of splurging on one night at the there during our trip.

What are people's experiences arriving many hours earlier than check-in? We're thinking we might arrive mid-morning of check-in day and I know check in isn't until 3pm. Has anyone else done this? Are you glad you did?

Thanks for any info :)

We did exactly what you are planning, we took our two kids to Maui stayed at the Mana Kai Maui but got one night at the GW for a splurge, we didn't show up hours ahead of time but around 2pm but the following day after checking out of the room stayed at the pool area until atleast 5pm. pool side lunch, drinks, swimming in the pool. worked out perfect for that once in a lifetime (for us $$$-wise) splurge.

You can check in when you arrive. They will store luggage and you can use the facilities. Give them your cell and they will call you when your room is ready. Have fun

Check out Hockeymoms trip report she just did. They had a blast but be prepared for trouble getting chairs.

We did this our last trip and it was great! We got to use the pool the entire day. Your kids and you will have a great time and it's a nice way to end the trip....do it!

You can get wrist bans before your room is ready, just tell them your situation, they go by name not by room key. We checked in about 11, they held our luggage and we went to the pool. They called us on the cell when the room was ready.

We did what you are proposing, both at Grand Wailea and the Grand Hyatt on Kauai. We did it mid-trip and just took an overnight bag. Showed up around 9am. Left bag with front desk, got our towels and wristbands, and enjoyed the pools all day. The next day we officially checked-out at the proper time (11am?), but kept our towels and wristbands and enjoyed the pool and grounds all day. This is a LOT of bang for buck. Two full days of fun compared to 3-4 hours on a family snorkel cruise that costs about the same amount.

At the Grand Hyatt on Kauai we didn't even sleep in the room. Just used it to change clothes while enjoying our two days of fun.
