I'm going back in May, but have been before (don't recall the tiemshare thing). I usually have messages on my phone at most the hotels in Hawaii telling me to come pick up my gift package, but I just don't go. If they approach me I just lie and say that I don't own a home, already have a timeshare, I'm not married, etc. You just have to be stern and they have never been a problem, even in Cancun.

We've stayed at the Outrigger Reef twice and the salespeople greeted us almost every time we walked through the lobby, but last month at the Waikiki we didn't attract their attention even once.

Twice we've been given a [free] upgrade without asking for it when the hotel was not at capacity.

The time share people at the Outrigger are in the middle of the lobby with a bunch of travel brochures. If you do not ask them a question they will not bug you, if you have a question on a tour don't ask them. There are also time share people on the streets that are the aggressive ones, just keep walking.

Never noticed them at the Outrigger, but if you are ever in South Lake Tahoe, avoid the tunnel that runs between Harrah's and Harvey's. The timeshare people literally grab you in the tunnel. My DH and I have named it - "timeshare tunnel."

I saw their stand/table, but they were never harrassing at all. It's the timeshare folks on the street when you're walking around that are pushy and bothersome. But no . . . the timeshare folks at the Outrigger Waikiki were no bother at all.
