Go Airlines

Has anyone used Go airlines recently? If so recommend or not and why?

Someone suggested I did a search but there is all old info. There were 2 posts in 2008 but they weren't quite applicable.

The schedule and prices are better than Hawaiin and Island for when I am traveling.

Thank you

A lot of folks feel Go was the main reason Aloha Airlines closed down. Maybe partly...don't know.

We flew Go last year HNL - LIH after the Aloha Airlines meltdown - I had to buy new tickets and Hawaiian wanted 3 times as much or wait 6 hours. I was leary of the airline, but our experience with them was wonderful. I had allowed 2 hours between flights. Our Delta flight arrived early in HNL. Go asked us if we would like to be on an earlier flight (in 20 min) to Lihue. No extra charge, just nice as can be. Our bags arrived in Lihue on our original flight which worked out great, we had to wait in line over 1 hour for our Avis car, so our bags were waiting for us.

We're flying with Go again this next September. I have no qualms about them at all. You actually walk out on the tarmack and up a ramp to board. I'm old enough to remember when most airports were like that.

Be aware that Go is in the commuter terminal. It's quite a ways past the inter-island terminal where Hawaiian is, but you can still stay inside security to get there. Walk to gate 66 (the last gate in the interisland terminal in the Hawaiian Airlines terminal), proceed down the escalator and wait for an agent to escort you via the tarmac to the commuter terminal holding area. There is also a WikiWiki bus that runs to the commuter terminal inside securtiy. We took it on our way back as we had time to spare.

Go charges 10.00 for the first checked bag, 17.00 for the second. Hawaiian does not charge for the 1st checked bag (17.00 for the second) on inter-island flights.

Just used them Feb.22 to go to Maui from HNL, no problems at all, both flights were on time. There is a free shuttle from the GO terminal to the other terminals at HNL. As stated before $10 for bags and they do charge for beverages.

I haven't had any problems. I was dedicated to Aloha before because of their excellent customer service, but today I select either Go or Hawaiian based on schedule.

Seats are a little cramped but the flight is short. Commuter terminal seems to be quicker getting through security. Plane are small jets - I think they're 5 minutes faster because they taxi, take off and turn so quickly. Maybe my 'magination?

Does anyone know if Go has a codeshare agreement with Delta? Wondered if I could check my luggage all the way through from my flight from the mainland on Delta. I understand I can do this with Hawaiian.

I would say no, but I would call Delta and check.

We haven't flown Go yet but I booked them for our June trip because the schedule and price was much better than Hawaiian. We have plenty of time and aren't first-timers so I'm not that concerned.

The reason I'm posting is because I booked one of our flights for the wrong day (the hazards of booking a vacation before coffee in the a.m. while on another vacation!) and immediately called Go on a Sunday morning. They very nicely adjusted my mistake for me and sent me a new confirmation number and email for no extra charge. Phew!

You can check your bags all through with Delta to Go.

We did this last year. You'll need to check in with Delta at their counter. Self-serv kiosk or sky caps can't do it. Show Delta your e-ticket with Go.

There's a story in the Star Bulletin concerning the attempt by Go's parent company to put another picture on what happened.

There is still sour feelings toward Mesa (go) and their business practices since Hawaiian Airlines sued them for the same thing Mesa did to Aloha.
