Flew Delta connecting in Atlanta and then nonstop to Oahu. Almost 10 hours and the AVOD was not working in our section of the plane. Not a fun flight but fortunately we each brought a couple of good books with us. Finally arrived and enjoyed 3 lovely days on Oahu. Stayed at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club. This was our third trip to Ko Olina. Our 2 bedroom unit was in the new building. Gorgeous. We had a "mountain view" that actually overlooked the harbor with a partial view of both mountains and oceans. Snorkeled a couple of times in the lagoon between the Beach Club and JW Marriott (it's either lagoon 2 or 3 depending on which one you start with). Good snorkeling by the rocks on the right side. Lots of fish and a turtle. Also a box jellyfish that wasn't supposed to be there. The swarms that affect Oahu ended a week before we arrived and the lagoons rarely get any even then. We were told this one must have been hiding in the rocks. Sneeky guy! Fortunately we realized we had been stung and went quickly to the beach activity hut at the Beach Club lagoon and they sprayed us with vinegar. I've never been stung by a jellyfish before so I was a little worried about a possible allergic reaction but the stinging was very mild and by the next morning it was gone. Our second day we drove to the North Shore hoping to see remnants of the giant surf of the previous week but it was pretty calm. Not calm enough to snorkel but no big surf. Lunch was at Macky's Shrimp Truck. Lemon pepper was just so-so but my brother-in-law really liked the spicy chile shrimp. Had a scoop of wonderful fresh coconut with macadamia nuts ice cream at the General Store in the marketplace at Haleiwa. Best ice cream of the entire trip (and I tried several!) My brother-in-law is former navy visited Pearl Harbor and was glad he did so. We have been there on previous visits and decided to opt out for more beach time. Dinners were at the condo with Costco chicken and salad. Rental car was with Alamo - $75 for 3 days and upgraded to a mid size. Pretty good deal.
