Getting to beach from wyndham beachwalk

Staying at beachwalk.....Is it an easy walking route to the beach......while dragging beach gear with us? I know the units aren't far from beach....just wondering if you walk through other hotels or down side streets to get there as we plan on doing this most days for at least part of the day......

some recommended hanging out by shore bird.....if any other suggestions I'd love to hear about it......as we will be enjoying food in area and popping in for a cold beer occassionally.

Walk down lewers and go over to Outrigger Reef. Through hotel and out to beach.

Pretty easy walk and like a 10 minute walk at most.

Down to main part of Waikiki Beach is quite a bit farther and more difficult to walk. Like twice as far or a little more.

Shorebird is great place for a cold one and has mai-tai's on happy hour all day until about 6. Good place to eat if you like to cook your own steaks, chicken or fist on a big grill.

Lots of restaurants on beachwalk (Lewers St.). One of our favorites is Yardhouse which is very close to your hotel and has lots of options for food and beer.

Have a great trip.

You don't have to walk through the Reef to get to the beach....

There is a public beach access right-of-way between the Reef and Halekulani hotels leading from Kalia Road between Lewers Street and Beach Walk.

Or, just walk a couple of very short blocks down Kalia Road (turning right, towards Downtown from Lewers where the Wyndham is) and you will be in Ft DeRussy "park", which has one of the best beach areas in Waikiki.

If you hang a right by Halekulani and walk to the corner, you will see a sidewalk pathway up ahead on the left before you cross over to the park.

Follow the pathway down to the beach. I think the beach to the right is nicer than the stretch of beach directly fronting the Outrigger.

It is an easy walk... not more than a few minutes. Unless you stop in at the ABC store to pick something up :) Those stores are addictive! LOL

ditto to what amberloo said.

Ft. DeRussy Beach is the best in the area.

And there is a public access between Halekulani & Outrigger Reef.

3 minutes at the most to get to the beach.

No biggie - you will have no trouble at all.

BTW, we saw that the ABC under the Wyndam (?) has at least doubled it size. That puppy is huge. You will find it very handy for any number of things.

Go to the Coffee Bean and try out the Bubbie's Mochi Ice Cream. Beware: habit forming!

If you haven't played on this website I think you will find it helpful. Decent map, lists of stores, restaurants, etc. The Beachwalk is just a slice of Waikiki - but fun.

This is where we stayed on our last trip. It was great our only complaint was the pricey valet rates. The beach is real close just walk down Lewers and make a right at Roy's, its a couple blocks down on your left, probably about a 5 min walk so you should be fine with beach gear.
