Things to do with 28 teenagers in Waikiki Area

Hi we are a v'ball team staying at Ohana Waikiki West Hotel. Can anyone give me some ideas of other things to do & eat.

We have booked, the Diamond Head hike, Laua, Pearl Habour, Aquarium,Dole PP & north shore.

where else to take them & reasonable restaurants.

Thanks for your help. We have been to this area before but cant really remember and had no kids with us.

Thanks for all your help!

Reserve the back room at the Wailana coffee shop - there is plenty of room & they have a small salad bar in the evenings.

Ala Moana food court is also a good idea - lots of choices & lots of tables. If your volleyball team is female, there is also a lot of shopping at Ala Moana - it can easily entertain the group for hours.

I'd skip the Dole pineapple plantation unless you are just looking for a bathroom break. I doubt the teens will be too thrilled with it. The Waimea Valley hike to the water falls would be a better use of your time. They can even swim in the pond at the end of the trail.

I'd skip the aquarium as well - snorkeling Hanauma Bay is a lot more fun since you see the fish in person as opposed to in a tank.

How about a bit of culture and history? Take them to the Iolani Palace and Bishop Museum. http://www.iolanipalace.org/

It's amazing history. There are guided tours or self guided tours at the palace. The Museum has amazing displays and also a planaterium which shows great films on the night sky. http://www.bishopmuseum.org/planetarium/

jet don't you mean Denny's is across the street from the Outrigger Reef? I don't remember one across from the OW.

Take 'em Downtown....

They will enjoy the walk through the Capitol DIstrict, Downtown and Chinatown.

Neat old buildings, neat new ones, statues, even the State Art Museum (free),and places they see all the time on Hawaii 5-0.

Chinatown will be a blast, they can pick up some cheap souveniers and trinkets, and eat at any one of dozens of great, inexpensive places.

25 minute bus ride from Waikiki (or you can walk the three or so miles).

It is about 1.3 miles from the start of the Capitol Distict (Kawaiahao Church and the govt campus) to the far end of Chinatown.

The two Denny's Waikiki locations are:

One near Outrigger Reef on Lewers and one on Kuhio almost directly behind International Market Place.

The Kuhio location is close to Ohana Waikiki West.

Great dim sum in Chinatown. Make sure they all try chicken feet.

Chicken feet, yum. Tried some this summer in Barbados. Weird but tasty.

I would try to arrange surf and stand up paddle board lessons.

In the Ohana Waikiki EAST, just steps from Ohana West, is one of my favorite Waikiki breakfast places: Keoni by Keo's.

As affordable as Denny's at breakfast, but much better food along with open-air seating with birds flying in and out and some very Hawaiian menu items that make it more fun.

As for activities: The ones you have booked sound perfect. Do you have more time to fill? How about snorkeling? Hiking to a waterfall at either Manoa Falls or Waimea Valley? Are surf lessons a possibility? (Or do you have legal liability issues to worry about.)

For other fun/affordable places to eat, note Duke's restaurant and barefoot bar in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and the restaurant in Outrigger Reef on the Beach where you cook your own meat!

A lot of shoppers in the bunch? Ala Moana Center is a beautiful outdoor mall that's fun to wander around.

I found this map on-line ... but haven't used it much. Perhaps it would be helpful for you. I doubt that it is completely up to date ... that would be quite a job!

Keep them hydrated...water, water, water. Buy cases and cases of it! Check sunscreen every 30 minutes, yes, you will need to be a nag about both DO IT!

Having escorted 150 band members to Disneyland...twice...refrain from throwing yourself in the ocean and enjoy those kids! This trip is something you will always remember with a smile.

Really the beach and the ABC stores wil keep them happy!
