Coming Trip

Hi,

Thinking about coming to Hawaii with the wife. I like the action of Waikiki but my wife hates it and prefers a quieter upscale setting like Wailea on Maui. Can anyone recommend a hotel that's pretty close to Waikiki but out of the hustle and bustle?

Price really isn't a concern. Personally I would like something like the Hilton Hawaii Village but maybe to overrun with kids????

Thanks

Aloha,

You might enjoy the New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel.

Located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki.

Not like the HHV though

Wow! How could you two be more incompatible, vacation-wise??

Looks like from your posting history that you've been to Maui before.

Have either of you been to Oahu?

Actually it's not that bad as we typically have a great time as we are both pretty laid back. I just like action and 4 star type resorts and she likes quieter 5 star resorts. Been to Maui many times.

We've been to Oahu once and stayed at the Outrigger Reef. Neither of us liked it but I thought Oahu was a beautiful island.

We are thinking about trying Kauai or Oahu this trip. I thought possibly Kahala. Worried about the rain on Kauai being from Seattle. Neither of us could take a trip with lots of rain.

There's really no city-type action on Kaua`i. Lots of outdoors stuff and small-town-kind things to do. If you come in the summer you won't have much problem with rain.

So, when are you thinking of visiting? For how long?

What do you mean by "action"?

What do you most want to do?

TIP - ignore the star ratings.

I haven't stayed there, but it sounds like the Kahala might fit the bill.

The Kahala is a very relaxing spot with 3 decent restaurants, we enjoyed our stay there after a week in Waikiki.

If it's in your budget, the Kahala.
