Purchased tickets in March for our June 9 visit to Pearl Harbor. We chose the 9:30 tour of the USS Arizona Memorial and arrived at 8:15. We knew not to bring purses/backpacks, so we each just had our cell phones. There were folks in line when we arrived looking for tickets, but they were told all tickets were sold out for the day. We decided to purchase the audio tour at $7.50/each. Our 10 and 14 year olds really enjoyed the narration of the museum and main sites. Well worth it in our opinion. The audio tour was about an hour. Perfect timing to head to the movie portion of our tour. The movie is about half an hour and is a great summary of the events leading up to and of the Dec 7 attack. We boarded for the memorial. We were on the memorial about 30 minutes before heading back. Very moving. After heading back, we browsed the gift shop briefly. We were hungry by this point (11a.m.) and decided to head to brunch at Hula Grill. Since we are not staying in Waikiki, we were not sure where to park, but we were able to valet park in the Outrigger for $5 for three hours. Brunch was great! $55 for the four of us. Afterwards, we strolled the beach and various hotel grounds. We drove back to our 'home' in Lanikai. After an afternoon of enjoying the views from our lanai, we walked down to Lanikai beach. It was crowded, but we found a nice spot. Girls had a great time building sand castles. We hope to head back to the beach in the morning before heading to our Kos Lost hummer tour tomorrow afternoon. Was another perfect day!
