National holiday- are banks closed?

We arrive in Marrakech on Sun 18th Nov which is Independance day.

Will we be able to exchange some of our money? The flight gets in at 19:15hrs and we have no transfer to our hotel and therefore need some money!

Other option I have considered is to hire a car from here.

Thanks in advance for your help. Debs

Well, even if it weren't Independance Day the banks would be closed regardless as you are arriving on a Sunday.

You should have no problem finding a cash machine to withdraw dirhams.

I would advice that you take some sterling notes with you, make sure that they are in pristine condition, no tears or writing on them, you should be able to change at the bureau-de-change at the airport. Also you are able to obtain money from ATM's, ensure that you notify your bank before departure of your country destination and dates, this is for your own bank safety protection. As the previous writer has said, banks are closed on a Saturday and Sunday, and the opening hours are slightly different to the U.K
