Hi, my friends and I are looking to go to Morocco for a week in February or March. Ideally, we'd like to sightsee for a day or two and then spend the rest of the time at a beach, just relaxing... any recommendations on cities? Hotels? Is Feb/March warm enough? Thanks!

Morocco is a very big country and you have given no indication where you will be arriving, have you read any guide books yet?

Anyway, not to worry, Morocco has several good beaches, there's Tangier steeped in history and with a beach but the folk are a bit funny towards foreigners. This is in the far north so going to other places in the south will be very time consuming.

Forget Casablanca and stick to the south which has so much more to offer.

There's Agadir, a hugely popular destinatination with many europeans, has a good long beach, a place made for relaxing. Generally people go on excursions from here to historic places like Marrakech, Taroudant, Tafraout, Ourika Valley and other spots.

Essaouira is great for a few days, a real antidote to the hustle and bustle of the usual tourist resorts. A good long beach, views over the Atlantic, an ancient city, medina and markets.

Hotels - as ever, what do you want to pay? cheap, mid-range or luxury? Luggage tends to be a problem, restricting the ability to walk around asking for rates in riads and hotels.

2. Re: Beaches?

None of the beaches in Morocco will be particularly inviting to you during the time that you want to visit. The water will be quite cold, although you could enjoy the sun, but even that isn't really all that hot in February or March. If you are looking for warm water and that kind of beach scene, you might want to look elsewhere or come later in the year.
