Charming quiet seaside town between Marr and Fes?

Hi,

Is there such a thing as a charming, quiet seaside town where I could spend a night and morning when I am enroute from Marrakech to Fes (by train) in mid-May? ...Something that would be a counterpoint to all the excitement of the two cities, but not be too difficult to get to from the main train route.

I'm wondering about the towns of Kenitra, Moulay Bousselham and Larache. Any input welcome as to the character of these places, the logistics, and whether there are other options I haven't mentioned.

I won't need nightlife at that point: Quiet, charm, ocean and ease are the key aims.

Thank you,

Tracy

Hi Tracy,

Try El Mohamadia, its small charming town by the Atlantic coast north of Casablanca.

You could stop in Mohammedia or Skhirat. Kenitra is also ok, but is not a beach town. The ocean is outside of town and you would have to take taxis there and back. Further north are Larache and Asilah (one of my favorite laid back cities in Morocco). But they are not on the way to Fes. You would have to go further north for them and then return to Fes. I have been through Moulay Bousselham several times but have never stayed there. I know it is a very popular place in the summer. I think I would recommend Asilah. The train station is just on the outskirts of town, there is a lovely bed and breakfast not far away and the ocean is only about 100 meters from there. You can contact me privately and I will give you contact information for the bed and breakfast. I just stayed there with my wife three weeks ago and am doing a review of it now for TripAdvisor.
