Currency for Morocco

What do the street vendors, restaurants and shops want - $US or local currency?? We're going in October but the $CDN is so good now, I'll buy ahead of time for US.

Dirhams are your best bet.

1 CDN$ = around 7 or 8 dirhams now.

They will much prefer the local currency but if you have none they will take about anything they think they can eventually trade. I would recommend getting dirhams when you arrive and using those while in country.

If you wish to avoid being ripped off (even in a small way) then pay for everything, pay only in Dirhams. These are avvailacble from any of the multitude of ATM's around.

Exceptions are hotel expenses which you can charge to your credit card.

Click on Travel Guide on the left and read the article on "Banks And Money" within, this is quite a useful article which (mainly) I contributed to.
