Hmm, Fes to Merzouga is a long trip. We did an overnight in Midelt. Would you arrive in Merzouga in time to get straight onto a camel and head out into the desert? Especially if you are heading off again as soon as you arrive back from the camel trek. I would suggest you try and add in an extra day between Fes and Ncob.

Do you know what time your flights arrive/depart? This could make a difference to how you plan your first and last day.

Veejay, it's not that long drive from Fes to Merzouga, but it worth to do it from Fes to Merzouga enjoying the contrast of landscapes in one day can see 4 seasons passing by the snow, via the shady Cedar Forest to the middel Atlas Mountains into the Sahara relaxing in a hotel first night, then having the explorative journey to the villages and surrouding towns next day, in Medilt there is nothing to see and will just be wasting for time, to spend that day in another place of Morocco, maybe if she has 20 days can do Medilt for one night too.

Have fun.

Sorry Hamid, just telling it how it was for us. Perhaps there is a much more direct route than the one we took as we didn't reach Midelt until late afternoon and then it was mid afternoon the next day that we reached Merzouga. I was not trying to say that Midelt itself is worth time, just that it was a good stopping over point. Yes we were lucky enough to have 20 days.

Being a forum, do we all not have the right to our own opinion and offer this in order to help others making a choice in what is good for them? Surely after reading all the information and opinions offered, it is then up to the OP to weigh it all up and work out what is best for them as an individual?

Good luck with you planning Cynthia S. I'm sure you will love your trip to Morocco as much as we did :-)

We're still fine tuning the routes and itinerary. All of this information is invaluable.
